Who is responsible

The Upsert is an independent publication written and run by Leonardo Quisbert Parra, who decides how the newsletter list is used and is responsible for it under this policy. How to reach the author is at the end of this page.

What is collected, and why

Your email address, if you subscribe. You type it into the newsletter form and this site passes it to Resend, the email service that stores the list and sends the emails. It is used to send you a welcome email and the newsletter, and for nothing else. The basis for this is your consent, which you give by submitting the form.

Technical data when you load a page. The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and keep it secure. The Upsert does not use that data to profile or identify individual readers.

What is not done

• No analytics, advertising trackers or social media pixels are loaded.
• This site does not set cookies, and it does not store anything in your browser.
• The fonts are served from the site itself, not from a third party.
• Personal information is never sold or rented.

If any of this changes, for example if analytics are added, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the date above will change.

Who handles your data

Resend stores your email address and delivers the emails. Vercel hosts the website. Each has its own privacy policy, and each may process data outside your country, including in the United States. When you submit the newsletter form, your browser sends the address to this site, which passes it to Resend.

How long your email is kept

Your address stays on the list until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask by using the contact details below. Once you unsubscribe, you stop receiving email.

Security

The only personal information held is the newsletter list, and it is stored by Resend, which protects it with its own security measures. No system is perfectly secure, so the list is kept as small as it can be: an email address and nothing else.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access the personal information held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To use any of these rights, get in touch below. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

EU and UK readers: the legal basis for the newsletter is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time without affecting what happened before. The legal basis for the technical data described above is the legitimate interest in running and securing the website.

California and other US states: The Upsert does not sell or share personal information for advertising, and it does not use it for automated decisions. You may ask what is held about you and ask for it to be deleted, and you won't be treated differently for doing so.

Articles link to documentation and other sites run by third parties. The Upsert does not control them and is not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

Children

The Upsert is written for professionals. It is not directed at children under 16, and it does not knowingly collect their personal information.
